Anderson Anderson - 03/08/2012 Just to dispel two bad sseogutigns in the other answers ..1. Don't just throw it in the bin or otherwise trash it. The TV is full of materials that are hazardous to the environment. If you're not going to sell it or trade it in, it needs to go to a recycle center. If there's a Goodwill Industries store near you, they'll take it.2. It's untrue that all salvagers will charge you to take it off your hands. Some will actually pay you for certain old electronics (I sold two CRT computer monitors to a junker for $ 5). Check the want ads in your paper. You might also consider offering it for sale on Craigslist, being sure to divulge its history. Some people buy broken TVs for parts. I've even bought them just to become familiar with the innards of flatscreen sets.Following up on one of the good sseogutigns in the other answers, check with your local trash collection company for any free electronic waste recycling days they might have. Mine has 4 per year, so I've sent a lot of electronic stuff on its way to recycle heaven at no cost to me. Good luck. |
